Ghibli Museum, Mitaka Tokyo
"This is the portal to a storybook world." Studio Ghibli, co-founded by director Hayao Miyazaki, is behind world-known animated films such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo. Hayao Miyazaki designed and built the museum in 2000 as a reflection of his building designs displayed in his film works. Inside and outside you will find spiral staircases built from iron, interior bridges, and balconies stretching throughout the building's height. The building is part of the exhibition that makes you feel more enriched with its uplifting and relaxing experience. "Let's get lost together" is the museum's slogan. You don't have to be a diehard fans to appreciate this museum and his works. I personally is a fan of his works, and when I first step into this whimsical reality, I got goosebumps and nearly shed a tear. The exhibition and the building itself is so beautiful that you have to experience it yourself with your own ears and eyes. We are not allowed to take pictures inside the exhibitions, but that way you can really enjoy everything that they present.
